QYJDT IMPRESS AT MUNDUBBERA

Three riders, four race wins from nine starts, one class victory, a third and a fourth overall. They were the statistics the Queensland Yamaha Junior Development Team (QYJDT) posted at the third round of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Series held at the undulating Mundubbera Circuit over the weekend.

Shaun Redhead (Pro Griffin Yamaha) continues to impress and his form is at an all time high as the young tear-away claimed another round victory. In the three points paying races, Redhead returned results of 1-1-3 to claim the day in the 13 to 14years Lites division. Race three was no doubt the highlight when Redhead, 125cc two stroke mounted, went down in the first turn, picked up a distant last and rocketed back to a podium spot in four laps. It was nothing short of amazing!

"Because I love riding my 125 so much, the deal is always, if I win the first two races on my 250F, I can race the 125 in the last moto. I just got caught up in the first turn and went down and had to wait for the field to go by before I could get back to my bike and get going. I put my head down and was pretty happy to end up in third and still get the overall for the day," said the battle weary Redhead.

The crashing disease also hit Joel Dinsdale (Bullet Bikes) where he also went down in his opening moto, and then crossed the line in a lowly 18th place. That only fired the young Mackay racer up and he then tore the 9 to 11 years Mini Lites field apart in the final two motos to finish with 18- 1-1 and third overall.

"If I hadn’t of crashed in the first race, I would have won the overall but that’s the way it goes. I think I rode well today and if it ever stops raining at Mackay, I might be able to get some practice in during the week so I don’t feel so rusty in the first race," offered the hard charging Dinsdale.

Scott Mann (Jimboomba Motorcycles) is racing exceptionally well and is right on the edge of claiming a round victory. His 3-3-4 moto scores don’t represent how close the top racers are in the 12 to Under14 years Mini Lites and Mann is right there banging on the door.

"I just know I am not far away from winning one of these rounds. Every time we race I spend a bit longer at the front and finish a bit closer to the winners. My day is coming," Scott warns.
