Reed looks to build on 30-win record in World SX Championship

With 4 from 5 Supercross victories under his belt in 2008, Chad Reed will be gunning for another win as the World Supercross Championship heads to San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium this Saturday.

It’s been a dominant showing from the Australian, who currently sits atop the Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, with a 26-point lead – and one event clear – over second place.

Reed not only became only the second rider in the history of AMA Supercross to clean sweep the trio of Anaheim events last weekend, but also recorded another major milestone – 30 AMA Supercross wins.

The last time he recorded a hat-trick of wins in regular competition was 2004, the year he stepped out of the shadows to claim his first AMA title.

At present, Reed is directing his focus and making goals for the short term – race by race.

“At this stage, with a bit of a lead behind me, it’s important that I keep level-headed and keep putting in 100 percent effort every night,” said Reed.

“As the past few weeks have shown, anything can happen in this game.”

“At this point, we’re in a good place. The ’08 Yamaha is a major step forward from 2007 and we’re really on top of it.”

“San Diego is just another box to tick. Consistency is important – there are a lot of guys out there who are looking to make the most of every opportunity they can, it’s not an easy task.”

Reed is aiming for his fifth win at the Californian venue since 2003.

It’s been 25 years since series saw its first race contested in San Diego, with a Yamaha rider claiming the spoils.

Chad Reed and San Manuel Racing are proudly sponsored by San Manuel, Yamaha, Fusion Energy, Nike, Parts Unlimited, THOR, Bridgestone, D.I.D.,VP Fuels, GYTR, Yamalube, One Industries, Pro Taper, OGIO, Alpinestars and Scott.
